MYTH BUSTER!

Here’s one that somehow still shows its ugly face from time to time, and sometimes drives me crazy, so let me educate you!

Spot reduction, or the ability to target a specific area of the body (let’s say abs) train specific exercises for that area (let’s say crunches) and actually burn fat from that area.

NO! (unfortunately) You can’t! You really can’t! It’s impossible and scientifically proven so.

This means no matter how many crunches you complete today, it does not mean you will lose body fat from your stomach. End of!

Focus on big compound movements (squats, lunges, deadlifts, cleans, snatches, presses, rows) these movements recruit a lot more of your musculature, enable you to build lean muscle tissue, making you more metabolically active, burning a hell of a lot more calories, which in turn reduces your body fat (over time), giving you that “toned” appearance (with sound nutrition of course).

Stop kidding yourself with 6 minute ab apps people.

Eat well, train hard and just stick at it! The rewards will come.
